University of the West of England
In 2017, the UK’s first course to specialise in Façade Engineering moved to UWE. This unique, industry-led masters works closely with the Centre for Window and Cladding Technology (CWCT). CWCT is an industry funded research and training centre based in the city of Bath in the UK. They provide guidance, write standards and provide training on many aspects of façade engineering. Established for over 30 years and supported by over 350 Members in more than 20 countries, CWCT established the first course in Façade Engineering at the University of Bath in 1997, before the course moved to the University of the West of England in 2017.
The course is designed specifically for the industry to help bridge the skills gap and raise levels of competency in this key discipline. Students will learn why façades are one of the most complex, technically challenging and trans-disciplinary parts of a building. Applying theory to practice, students will cover key topics including façade materials and components, thermal performance and analysis, weathertightness, fire performance, structural analysis and procurement.
