OpenFace: learn everything about façade design and engineering anytime, anywhere
OpenFace is the new online educational programme designed for architects, engineers, graduate students in related fields, and anyone with a basic technical background seeking to expand their expertise in façade design and engineering.
OpenFace is an Erasmus+ project developed by TU Delft, TU Darmstadt, and Eurac Research, and features contributions from some of the most renowned experts in the façade industry.
The programme is built on comprehensiveness: covering everything from foundational theories to the latest technological advancements, from innovative glass facades to the application of circularity and sustainability principles. The courses explore, in detail, every aspect of façade design, construction, and engineering, offering—for the first time—a coherent body of knowledge that will save hours of research across the web’s myriad fragmented sources.
While theory is a key part of the curriculum, it’s far from the only focus. With numerous design examples, practical case studies, quizzes, and exercises, the learning experience is interactive and hands-on.
One of the programme’s strengths is its flexibility. The modular structure allows participants to study at their own pace, accommodating personal work and study schedules under the motto: ‘learn anytime, anywhere, at your own pace.’ Moreover, there’s no need to follow the courses in a strict linear order; participants can choose to dive deeper into specific modules of interest without committing to the entire programme, allowing them to fill gaps in their knowledge as needed.
OpenFace offers two ways to access its courses: a free option, available for a limited time, ideal for those who are curious about OpenFace but not yet ready to commit, and a paid, verified option, which provides unlimited access, passing scores, and a verified certificate that allows to earn credits when enrolling in TU Darmstadt or TU Delft degree programmes on related topics.
