New OpenFace MOOC is out!
OpenFace’s new MOOC, Principles, Materials, and Technologies of Façades, is now online and open for registration.
This 6-week instructor-paced course will run from 29 January to 12 March.
Participants are expected to commit 3-4 hours per week, offering, as with all OpenFace courses, a flexible learning path tailored to individual needs.
Another hallmark of these courses is their comprehensiveness. This course delves deeply into the theory and construction technologies behind façades.
It begins with a historical overview of façade technology development and system types, progressing to the identification and classification of advanced façade systems. The course then focuses on the study and selection of construction materials, considering context and project objectives.
By the end of the course, students will be able to recognise different façade systems and determine which systems and materials are most effective for specific project goals.
Designed for those with a background in architecture, building, or structural engineering, this course was developed in collaboration with experts from TU Delft, TU Darmstadt, and Eurac Research. The goal is to bridge the educational gap in this crucial area of study.
In fact façades play a vital role in a building’s economy, yet they often receive limited attention in formal education. Beyond defining a building’s stylistic character and uniqueness, façades contribute significantly to its sustainability, energy efficiency, and indoor environmental quality.
